Sierra Raine
Visual Artist
My childhood home was high energy, and I often struggled to control my emotions in the chaotic environment. Never being taught coping mechanism forced me to find them on my own and it was acrylic paint that showed me the way. The fluidity of the medium allowed me to express some of that bottled-up energy in a controlled way. For me, art is a therapeutic method. Creating work adds an action to my emotion that solidifies it in real time, which then allows me to reflect as I look back at the experience.

My Canvas
I specialize in acrylic paint on canvas! I enjoy using oil paint and ceramics as ways of expressing myself, too!
While I've been trained in many mediums, I am so enchanted by the fluidity and organic push of acrylic paint. I am able to move my hands, body, and mind harmonously as I work and feel the essence of the ocean as I do. The ability to transform a white blank canvas into an expression of my soul is important for me as an artist.

Mural Projects
I completed a three piece mural for UWSP.
The projects initiative was to add some color on campus through art!
Stevens Point started a project called UnWasted. The initiative is to turn something with negative stigma, like the garbage truck, and bring a more positive light to them! My piece was selected to be a part of this project.

I allow my emotions to guide me in my work. The essence of the ocean and its life forms inspire me to create.
It’s not just the ocean… I find inspiration in my Wisconsin roots as well. Wisconsin is rich with wildlife, flowers, and lakes.
